Lumo is a low-cost, open-access operator running services between London King's Cross and Edinburgh Waverley on the East Coast Main Line. Launched in 2021, it offers affordable fares with all-electric trains and competes with LNER on the same route.
Lumo is part of the FirstGroup family and uses DR15, giving passengers better compensation terms than LNER's DR30 on the same East Coast Main Line route.
Lumo uses the DR15 Delay Repay scheme. This means you can claim compensation for delays of just 15 minutes or more — 25% of a single fare for 15-29 minutes, 50% for 30-59 minutes, and 100% for 60+ minutes. You have 28 days from the date of travel to submit a claim.

How long do I have to claim Delay Repay from Lumo?
You have 28 days from the date of travel to submit a Delay Repay claim to Lumo.
Does Lumo use DR15 or DR30?
Lumo uses the DR15 scheme, meaning you can claim from just 15 minutes of delay. This is different from LNER, which uses DR30 on the same route.
Can I claim Lumo Delay Repay if LNER caused the delay?
Yes. Delay Repay applies regardless of the cause. If your Lumo service was delayed, you claim from Lumo regardless of which operator or infrastructure issue caused the delay.
How do I get a refund from Lumo?
Visit the Lumo Delay Repay page and submit a claim online. You will need your ticket or booking reference, journey details, and the date of travel. Lumo uses the DR15 scheme, so compensation starts at 15 minutes of delay. You have 28 days to submit your claim.
How much compensation can I get from Lumo for a cancelled train?
If your Lumo train was cancelled and you took a later service, you can claim Delay Repay based on how late you arrived. Under the DR15 scheme: 25% for 15-29 minutes, 50% for 30-59 minutes, and 100% for 60+ minutes of your fare. If you did not travel, you are entitled to a full refund.
Compensation amounts, eligibility, and scheme details shown on this page and in the Train Badger app are estimates based on publicly available operator policies and National Rail data.
